The objective of this research is to understand the causal attributions of success and failure of parents on their performance as a guiding figure in the educational activities of their elementary school children during the Covid-19 pandemic in Metropolitan Lima. For this purpose, a qualitative research approach was used and ten parents were interviewed, using a semi-structured interview guide as a data collection technique. Inclusion criteria were also taken into account. First, the parents had to have children participating in emergency remote teaching in basic primary education in Metropolitan Lima. In addition, it was taken into account that the children receive support from their parents to carry out the tasks, provide accompaniment and send the evidence. The main results show that all participants attributed their successful performance to their own effort to support their children; on the contrary, it was found that half of the participants attributed their failure to the lack of time available to support their children in the activities. Likewise, positive and/or negative emotions and feelings were found regarding parental performance, due to the pandemic context and the process of adaptation over time. Finally, some difficulties were found in fulfilling the role of guidance figure; however, it was found that parents perceived opportunities by spending more time with the family.
