The fashion industry is full of opportunities and challenges in terms of innovation and reinvention. However, it is also one of the manufacturing industries that generate the worse negative impact on the environment and the use of natural resources such as water. With a world population in constant growth, the demand for clothing and accessories will continue to rise, which is why it is crucial to look for alternative solutions that are sustainable, friendly to the environment, and at the same time, animal cruelty-free. Opúndica is born in this context, an intrapreneurship of the Peruvian textile company Class Yordan's, with an alternative of clothing and accessories manufactured with the waste of Prickly Pear Phylloclade (Opuntia Ficus Indica) crops. Using the Design Thinking methodology for this project, we collected the opinions and concerns from the users to develop and improve the prototypes through different tools and interactions with them, also obtaining validation and desire. This proposal involves an initial investment of S/ 642,469 with a three-year payback, a five-year Net Present Value (NPV) of S/ 3’833,059 with a projected Internal Rate of Return of 69.91%. Likewise, the impact of Opúndica on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the social benefits were analyzed, estimating a social return of S/ 4’131,527.97. The expectations for this project will serve as an inspiration and reference to continue developing new technologies and start-ups with 100% Peruvian feedstock and allow Peru to position itself as a game changer in the global fashion industry.
