This research on the musical arts is a theoretical-musical comparative work between pieces considered representative of international math rock and the Lima environment of the same culture, with the objective of identifying the peculiar or unique characteristics at the compositional level of the Lima math rock environment, including its eclectic character. In this research, traditional musical analysis is used, allowing the observation of the harmonic, rhythmic and melodic movement. Regarding the structure of the thesis, first we will analyze some iconic songs of the math rock genre from different continents, in order to find common elements of the genre in foreign territories. Subsequently, the same analysis of the songs is applied to Angelo con baja autoestima and Viejaürbana, bands from Lima that have stood out in recent years within the local math rock scene, to highlight the elements that have forged an eclecticism sound that distances this math rock scene from Lima of its supposed equivalents abroad of math rock understood as a global genre. Finally, it is possible to demonstrate that, despite the influence and similarities between national and foreign artists, Lima math rock also takes elements from the musical environment to which it is exposed, generating a new sound discourse within its own music.
