This research aims to analyze the process of reflection and regulation about the learning process of students in a drawing and painting course through the use and implementation of a structured physical portfolio. This tool was designed and organized in three areas of development: planning, execution and reflection, with specific guidelines for each area. A qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach was used, because it allows analyzing and understanding the students' perspective about their own learning experiences. The number of participants was composed of 6 women and 2 men, whose ages ranged between 18 and 20 years of age. They shared the same classroom, in which the researcher also assumed the role of teacher. After completing the portfolio, for the collection of information, an interview guide with 21 questions was used, which yielded the following results. On the one hand, the reflection experiences of the students reflected awareness about their own processes followed through the use of the portfolio, highlighting decision-making, satisfaction and clarity to proceed in a new academic task from the review of processes. and previous results. Secondly, the usefulness of following a structure to guide one's own learning was found, the possibility of systematizing notes and sketches that can be reviewed in specific situations to correct errors, and communication with the teacher through annotations included in the portfolio in order to receive feedback. Finally, among the limitations of the portfolio, the students perceived the demand for more effort and time for its preparation.
