The present investigation is a descriptive study whose principal objective is to determine the characteristics of speech production in children of 6 and 7 years old at state educational institution of San Juan de Miraflores. To recolect data we used the Myofunctional Orofacial Examination- MBGR (2004) of Irene Marchesan translated by Mónica Paredes and Lydia Fernández (2014), the technique of systematic observation was aplicated with the purpose of identifying the characteristics of speech production in the children. The results of this study show that 20% of children show alterations in speech, of which 75% are of musculoskeletal origin. Likewise, the predominant speech alteration is the omission in the consonant groups of [ l ] and [ r ], followed by the alteration by substitution of the consonant groups of [r] by the consonant groups of [l] such as [kr] by [kl] and [br] by [bl]. Distortions are also mainly present in the alveolar fon [s]. So that investigation is concluded that there is a presence of speech alterations in children of 6 and 7 years old, which shows the importance of interdisciplinary intervention between teachers and phonoaudiologists in state educational institutions.
