This article seeks to evaluate the current situation of disability pensions in the Peruvian Private Pension System (SPP) and respond to the problem of how are we doing with the granting of disability pensions? In turn, this problem raises a series of internal questions that involve defining the disability pension, what are the requirements for the evaluation, qualification and subsequent granting of a pension, what instruments are required and who determines the condition of disability; as well as determining what is the framework of protection of the right to access a decent pension. Likewise, questions also arise as to whether from the medical and normative point of view there is a group of diseases that are referents to determine disability; and in relation to this and to the identification of challenges of the pension system, it is developed how the lack of interconnection between the SPP and the MINSA/EsSalud ends up being a necessity to be able to determine a condition of disability. In that sense, the system should have it mapped as an objective in order to guarantee a better rating of the pensions of those affiliates who require it. This research is guided by reports, bulletins, academic articles and legal regulations at the national and international level with the aim of providing the reader with the reality of disability pensions in the SPP.
