This research uses the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) approach to delineate the flood hazard extent in Sayán, Huaura province, Lima region. The main objective is to contribute to disaster risk reduction. Despite historical flooding and government studies indicating a high flood probability due to seasonal rains and ENSO, the lack of exhaustive measures stems from insufficient knowledge in the study area. Furthermore, the project utilizes a comprehensive methodology, uniting hydrological and geomorphological methods, that is, return periods and DSM data integrate in GIS for precise digital delimitation. Results classify flood probabilities into low, medium, high, and very high levels, highlighting anthropic entities at risk. While low and medium levels pose minimal threat, the latter may induce erosion on vulnerable margins due to increase in flow velocity. High and very high levels entail flooding, with the latter presenting heightened risks due to greater horizontal and vertical coverage, amplifying the probability of erosion. Vulnerability, represented by exposure, identifies commerce and communication sectors as most susceptible. This study lays the groundwork for further risk analysis, emphasizing vulnerability as a crucial factor for implementing corrective or risk-reducing measures.
