The main objective of the research is to identify the factors that favor and limit the development of the project “Promotion and Expansion of the Productive Capacities of Cocoa Cultivation in the Native Communities of the Tahuania District“, during the years 2012 - 2018. Through the application of the qualitative research methodology and strategy, based on the semi-structured interviews with project beneficiaries, leading cocoa producers and professionals who make up the team executing the project. It was identified as the main factors that favor the development of the project: the sedentary lifestyle practiced by the families of the CC.NN of the Shipibo ethnic group, the individualized work, the practice of agriculture of temporary products, the presence of native professionals of the area, realization of cacao fairs, training and accompaniment of technicians, participation of leading producers, demand for the cocoa product in the market, knowledge transfer through internships, National Public Investment System - SNIP and Invierte.pe, delivery of materials and supplies, participation of beneficiaries to the trainings carried out and put into practice the knowledge acquired. Likewise, as limiting factors: the nomadic profile with relative presence in the families of the Asheninka ethnic group, work in minga, extraction of wood, presence of non-native professionals of the area, the geographical dispersion of the CC.NN, period of production of the cocoa, abandonment to the project by some beneficiaries and the incorporation into the project of beneficiaries without experience in cocoa cultivation management. It is recommended to consider the intercultural approach throughout the project cycle, strengthen the symbiosis of temporary and permanent crops, listen to the opinion and perception of those involved, strengthen the organizational culture of the beneficiaries, incorporate knowledgeable professionals from the area, strengthen technical support in the definitive field and to elaborate a segmentation of beneficiaries taking into consideration variables such as: among others, degree of knowledge of the cultivation of cocoa, size of the cultivation area, educational level, gender, number of members in the family and age of the members of the family, this will help in some way to better planning and implementation of the project.
