In the process of curricular diversification at the institutional level, pedagogical innovation proposals are designed as a mechanism for improving the different educational tasks, in terms of learning, strategies and/or evaluation with the aim of improving the existing educational reality. For this reason, a study was carried out on those pedagogical innovation proposals that suggest changes to improve student learning and teaching practice. Then, the research problem is: What are the characteristics of the pedagogical innovation “Centro de Desarrollo Infantil Temprano“ developed in a Public Pedagogical Higher Education School in the city of Lima? The central purpose of this research is: to analyze the characteristics of the pedagogical innovation proposal “Centro de Desarrollo Infantil Temprano“ developed in a Public Pedagogical Higher Education School in the city of Lima. For this, the concepts related to pedagogical innovation are explained and then analized. This research is qualitative and descriptive, since it analyzes the characteristics of pedagogical innovation based on some a priori categories. Regarding the research method, the case study was chosen, considering one proposal for pedagogical innovation of a School of Higher Pedagogical Education, which responds to certain criteria of innovation. Among the most significant findings of this study is that the pedagogical innovation proposals seek to improve a pedagogical practice and respond to a certain context. In addition, it is concluded that the leadership and commitment of the teacher are essential to reach some goals. Finally, it is evident that innovation projects become an opportunity for critical reflection and continuous learning for people who are involved in their development.
