The literate world is essential in the life of Early Childhood Education children because it is present in all areas in which they develop, and, in this way, at school should be encouraged interaction with the world through reading mediation. The present research aims to analyze the theoretical foundations that support the role of reading mediator of Early Childhood Education teachers. To do this, we seek to know the meaning of reading mediation in the school context; the role of the teacher as a mediator of reading; and the relationship of emergent literacy with this mediation, according to representative authors over the last 20 years. The research has been carried out in the form of a State of the Art. For the collection and processing of the information collected, a documentary study has been used as a methodology, through which the review and analysis of various theoretical texts from databases, electronic books, etc. has been consolidated. This is how it has been found that reading mediation is decisive in the lives of children because it enables them to know and form close ties with reading, and the teacher as mediator provides enriching spaces for them to develop skills and abilities that every reader should have, which, in turn, contributes to the construction of emergent literacy. Thus, it is necessary to prioritize this teaching role to benefit children with the reading space. Thus, it is necessary to prioritize this teaching role to benefit children with the reading space.
