The present study contributes to the debate about the barriers in which women academics are immersed, therefore, several investigations have been reviewed in relation to gender studies and the field of work. Although the literature review is quite broad in relation to gender barriers and socioeconomic barriers, this study seeks to emphasize the situation of women in this new context of pandemic. In this way, it seeks to analyze the first impacts of the pandemic on the barriers of women in the Academy. In this sense, we want to answer the following question: What are the effects of the pandemic on the socioeconomic and gender barriers of academic women? Therefore, the main objective will be to identify and analyze the changes and permanence of these barriers according to the context that is being lived. Regarding what is reviewed in the literature for the State of the Art and the theoretical framework, the importance of the sexual division of labor as the basis of these barriers is highlighted, also, the Academy is considered as a regulatory space for mechanisms of inequality between men and women and finally, the relevance of care over the years is underlined. For this reason, part of the secondary objectives will analyze the distribution of care in relation to these new home, work and family dynamics within it and delve into the new supports at the institutional and personal level to which women are resorting.
