This paper provides a review of the main theoretical contributions and research related to the evaluation of university professors in Iberoamerica. The theoretical framework presents the main approaches to the evaluation of teaching, as well as the elements and processes required 2 to design and develop an evaluation system of teaching that meets the current demands of university education and the consequent demands for quality teaching. In light of society’s demands towards a university education, the teacher must develop a set of skills that allow him to accompany and assist students in their learning process and knowledgebuilding. Hence, the importance of rethinking the factors, that should be considered in order to develop a better quality in university teaching. Thus, it is necessary to reevaluate the teaching work against that of the investigation and to have a series of quality and incentive indicators which allows for a more permanent improvement of teaching and learning outcomes. Our research presents an analysis of the developed processes in PUCP to evaluate the Professor’s teaching-work, framed in the “Professorial Career Policy“, which objective is “To insure the best teaching quality of PUCP professors, through selection and hiring processes, appointments and promotions; as well as their performance evaluation framed in a context which favors constant renovation and permanent development of teaching, researching, and academic management ability”. The following work has as its objective to develop a process of meta-evaluation through the identification and analysis of the evaluation procedures in the teaching area that are used nowadays in the different processes related to a PUCP professorial career, as well as the identification of the main achievements, limitations, and suggestions that serve to better the evaluation system and teaching activity of a university professor.
