The following state of the art shows a review of different bibliographic sources about the development of language and the practice of read aloud practice in pre-school education with the objective to analyze the correlation between both of the aforementioned topics. The investigation has a documentary character, since it is performed by analyzing different types of bibliographic sources such as articles from indexed academic journals, e-books, undergraduate theses and manuals of reliable academic sources. The investigative work has a structure that revolves around three big thematic axes. The first one being oriented to describe the conceptualization of the read aloud practice, as well as identifying the interaction between readers as the role that occupies the co-reader figure. The second one seeks to expose the spaces and times to read aloud, as well as the choice of books. The third one tries to analyze the read aloud practice and its implication for language development of the child during its different cycles of early childhood, this means the last gestation trimester, the first 3 years of life, and the stage from 3 to 5 years old. With this study, important aspects that support the strict correlation between the read aloud practice and language development in pre-school children were found, such as the development of linguistic abilities like oral comprehension and expression, vocabulary expansion, development of the reading habit, among others, through the protagonist role of the infant. The role of educational agents is highlighted, since they have the challenge to begin the reading practice during their pedagogical work as soon as possible.
