This research work looks to decide how human rights due diligence contributes to the development of sustainable mining in Peru. The stages and components are developed for its implementation according to the level of maturity of the companies. The method used is qualitative, based on the central analysis of the Anglo American Quellaveco case. The development of this research paper includes three chapters. The first focuses on the analysis of the contextual framework for human rights due diligence and its importance in ensuring sustainable mining. In the second chapter, we analyze the human rights risks and impacts management, taking the Quellaveco mine as the main case of analysis, and complementary interviews with some mining companies of the National Society of Mining and Energy, an interview with the former president of the UN Business and Human Rights Group, as well as interviews with employees of Anglo American Quellaveco to find out the level of maturity in the implementation of this process. The third chapter presents a proposal for conducting (operational) human rights due diligence in the Peruvian mining sector. At the end of the research, we will have proved how human rights due diligence is a factor that contributes to ensuring the sustainability of operations while defining the stages for its implementation at the operational level.
