seguridad, medio ambiente y responsabilidad social.
Strategic Planning, developed for Minsur, a major tin mining company operating in San Rafael, located in the Puno region, and for Pucamarca, a major gold mining unit located in Tacna, takes full advantage of their opportunities while reducing potential threats, and develops strategies to meet Long Term Objectives (LTO) based on the mission and vision of the organization, which requires compliance to achieve Short Term Objetives (STO) proposed in this paper. The main focus of this paper is to place Minsur as a sustainable business over time, in order for their products to be internationally competitive, whereas its mining unit, Pucamarca, marks the beginning of one of its competitive advantages, differing from its other competitors through product diversification, thus integrating gold as one of their products within their exploitation and parallel demarcating a mining model with high standards in technology, safety, environment and social responsibility, creating a competitive advantage for Minsur against its competitors. In order to earn higher returns, growth and gain markets in the global market, in 2010 Minsur started to exploit its gold mining unit, Pucamarca, whose high standards add competitive advantage within the mining sector. The project to develop a strategic model is based on analyzing reasons and selecting strategies that will form the basis of the LTO, and consequently, of the STO for compliance. Moreover, the justification of the Strategic Plan is primarily in the implementation of the Integral Strategic Plan, which will help keep Minsur sustainable and competitive over time in the market segments where it has penetrated.
