This research has, as object of study, 43 film reviews of three specific live actions (Beauty and The beast (2017), Aladdin (2019) and The lion king (2019)) that have been written by 27 critics of the National Society of Film Critics. The critical discourses analyzed are understood from three theories of the sense of social taste: The Theory of Cultural Capital and Social Space (Pierre Bourdieu), The Author's Theory (Andrew Sarris) and The Theory of Taste and Aesthetic Judgment (Immanuel Kant). Furthermore, these discourses can also be understood under a specific theory of marketing (The Holbrook’s Nostalgia Scale) and the technological branch (The Uncanny Valley by Mori). Towards analyzing the content and understanding the theories exposed, it is determined how these critical discourses of cinema have managed to establish certain aesthetic standards on the three live actions. In order to answer the main question of this research, first, the elements of cinema and animation that each critic values are identified. Second, with the data collected, it is recognized and understood the execution of the aesthetic criteria that critics use repeatedly: thanks to the cultural capital, taste and aesthetic judgment on the part of the NSFC critics. With this information, it is possible to establish certain aesthetic standards on what it is considered “correct“ and “incorrect“ in four cinematographic elements (the general direction, the cinematographic script, the emotionality and the acting cast) on the three live actions carried out by The Walt Disney Company of its animated classics from the nineties.
