The present study seeks to analyze the process of community resilience in a group of people who returned to Huanca Sancos, Ayacucho during mandatory social isolation due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Peru. For this purpose, a qualitative methodology was used, based on a thematic analysis design and phenomenological approach, with a community psychology perspective. In relation to the main findings, it was found that the community resilience of returnees developed throughout the return process through the interaction of different group capacities and the strengthening of collective resources, based on the territory where they were born. In addition, it was identified that cohesion and the different organizational processes were achieved gradually, allowing the activation of social competences such as communication, leadership and collective action to achieve common welfare. Finally, it was evidenced that the sense of belonging and affiliation arose based on the territorial sharing of the returnees and on the “paisanazgo”. However, during the return, the collective action and the interdependence of the community was centered on the shared experience. Thus, at the end of the return, the process generated cohesion, the use of community resources and a positive adaptation to the territory, despite continuing in the pandemic context.
