The objective of this work was to determine the current vehicular demand to propose alternatives in the improvement of vehicular traffic of the Acobamba - Yanango Bridge in the city of Palca - Junín 2019. The current vehicle demand of the Acobamba-Puente Yanango section in the city of Palca - Junín exceeds 2,200 vehicles per day in each direction in 2019, and would reach a total of 9,304 vehicles per day (both directions) at the end of a 20-year period. During a set of field inspections carried out in 2016, it was observed that the pavement of both circulation axes - made up of an asphalt concrete surface - presented various flaws, such as longitudinal and transverse cracks, potholes, rutting, as well like unevenness between roads and berms. In addition, evidence of deterioration and / or absence of other elements of the road section (berms, gutters, signaling) was appreciated. The following alternatives could be considered for the Acobamba-Puente Yanango section: (i) improvement (reinforcement: placement of a 5cm asphalt overlay on the existingstructure, after preparing the surface); (ii) rehabilitation (milling of a 5cm layer of the existing asphalt layer, and subsequent placement of a 5cm asphalt layer, after preparing the surface) and; (iii) reconstruction (demolition of the existing pavement, and subsequent placement of a new section of the pavement consisting of a 20cm granular sub-base, a 20cm granular base and a 12cm asphalt mat). Using the HDM-4 software, it was determined that the best alternative for the proposed case would correspond to the Reconstruction alternative (new pavement) because it would correspond to a Multilane highway.
