The aim of this study is to determine what is the effect of a proposal for improvement in the production and logistics areas on costs in an SME in the rice sector. Firstly, a diagnosis was made in the studied areas, where economic losses were determined due to over-times in order preparation, momentary inventory readjustments and defective products due to broken packaging in the warehouse; input not suitable for production, insufficient stock of materials and materials incorrectly located in the production area. Therefore, with the ABC and 5S Methodologies, MRP System, purchase of necessary machinery and a training plan, improvements were estimated in the worked areas, by achieving clean and orderly spaces and an increase in the production capacity. The main reason is to reduce the costs of the company, which required an investment of S / 133,459.01, obtained through a bank loan. Finally, the economic evaluation determined a NPV of S/ 19,689.10, an IRR of 25.85%, an IRP of 2,87 years and a B/C of S/ 2.05, which indicates that the proposal is profitable and viable to be applied in the company; concluding that after the application of the improvement proposal, the costs were reduced by 83.66% equivalent to S / 89,744.30.
