ABSTRACT The present research on Safety Management Systems and Health (OSH) has been developed considering a framework for addressing global management prevention of occupational risks and to improve its functioning in an organized and continuous manner. In this regard, the approaches of the ILO Guidelines on Safety Management Systems and Health at Work (ILO / OSH 2001), OHSAS 18001 Management Systems Occupational Safety and Health and the national regulations were revised Law No. 29783, Law on Safety and Health at Work and its Regulations approved by Supreme Decree No. 005-2012-TR. This research focuses on the benchmark used for all companies, public or private entities of industry, trade, services and other sectors. The work patterns of the main aspects of a management system are provided; and drawing up a policy, develop or implement adequate control measures, and verify the measures taken to check that they have yielded positive results and finally act to correct the problems encountered and propose actions for continuous improvement because every company must have with a Management System for Occupational Safety and Health, which allows control of the safety of their processes and the protection of the health of their workers; achieving greater support for the company and contributing to improved performance and increased profits. This paper presents a proposal to implement a Management System for Occupational Safety and Health under the OHSAS 18001 for improving a mining company in the city of Cajamarca.
