The present research aimed to determine the relationship between academic procrastination and self-efficacy in students of electrical engineering at a public university. The methodology used was of quantitative approach, non-experimental design, cross-sectional, and correlational scope. The sampling was of probabilistic type, and the population sample was conformed by 223 students of different sexes. The technique used was the survey, and the instruments applied were: the Academic Procrastination Scale (EPA) and the Self-Efficacy Questionnaire. The data collection was done through virtual questionnaires, and the analysis was done through the statistical software SPSS version 23. The results showed that there is an inverse and moderate correlation between academic procrastination and self-efficacy (-.501); in addition, it was found that there is an inverse and weak correlation between: the dimension of postponement of activities and self-efficacy (-.319); between academic procrastination and the magnitude dimension (-.402), strength dimension (-.461) and generality (-.480); but there is a direct and moderate relationship between the academic self-regulation dimension and self-efficacy (.424). Therefore, it was concluded that the greater the degree of self-efficacy, the lower the level of academic procrastination in these university students.
