This thesis focuses on researching the principles of thermal and lighting comfort, aimed at the application of elements of Andean architecture through the design of a cultural center, to propose a solution to the deficit of spaces for cultural diffusion in Huamachuco. For this, the project seeks to achieve a connection with its environment, such as the weather and how the architectural complex to be projected relates to users or occupants. In that sense, the present research focuses on recognizing aspects of the natural environment and improving the comfort of spaces through conditioning thermic and lighting. On the other hand, when talking about the context, you must also recognize the landscape where you are going to intervene, the architectural features of the place and the design models that they can provide, so that the architectural fact can be integrated, and to achieve a perception of collective identity in users. For this, identifying the place of intervention, which is the city of Huamachuco, located in the northern mountains of the Libertad, whose architectural history dates back to pre-Inca times architectural history dates back to pre- Inca times. Also, the architecture of Huamachuco, is related to the characteristics that have the architectural style called Andean architecture, which are considered in the constructions made in the places that the Andes mountain range crosses. Thus, the research aims to identify the architectural characteristics of the aforementioned style, as well as to recognize its various elements and design forms, and then be able to translate them into the proposal. The methodology presented in this thesis is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, the description and context of the problem are developed, in this, the problematic reality, the theoretical bases, the justification, the objectives, among others are developed. The hypothesis is raised in the second chapter and the operationalization of the variables is presented too. The third chapter develops the topics related to the materials and methods to carry out the research and proposal. And in the fourth and fifth chapters the results of the investigation are exposed, where the cases studied, the analysis of the place and the architectural proposal, that is based on the architect design guidelines obtained along on the research. Finally, the thesis determines what is possible to improve comfort in spaces by using design elements with Andean characteristics, applications to the design of the Culture Center in Huamachuco.
