The objective of the research was to determine the level of knowledge and attitude towards the Papanicolaou in pregnant women treated at the Cesmyn Medical Center, 2021. The method: it is a study with a quantitative approach, descriptive level, observational design and cross-sectional. The population consisted of 123 pregnant women. The applied instrument was a questionnaire, validated by expert judgment. The results showed: 61.8% of pregnant women obtained a high level of knowledge; however, 97% do not know when the test should be performed again, 72% do not understand the interpretation of the test with an inflammation result, and 61% do not know in which weeks of gestation the test can be performed. 91.9% of pregnant women presented favorable attitudes towards the Pap smear; however, 7% stated that they disagreed with undergoing the test if they were pregnant. In conclusion, the level of knowledge of pregnant women is high and they have favorable attitudes towards the Papanicolaou smear.
