The present investigation aims to determine that the application of queuing theory manages to reduce the waiting time for obtaining medical appointments in peak demand periods in intake area of the Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho, 2018, this benefits to insured persons who are most users demanding medical service The methodology consists of the sampling of the times of attention on admission to the 9 hours until 13 hours for two months; with these samples is calculated as the average times of arrivals and service, after this is done the analysis of the dimensions of queueing theory: performance parameters, servers, capacity of the system and waiting time, in order to identify the model of the current queue. The current model with 6 servers in parallel and a proposed model, which adds 2 servers are subjected to simulation in the Promodel software, the purpose is to determine whether the proposed model allows to reduce the waiting time and allows the system to reach steady state. The results obtained are analyzed and compared to each other, concluding that the waiting time decreased by 2 minutes 57 seconds and increase in 24 users attended, this in favor of the proposed model these are made available for decision-making.
