The research focuses on the physical behavior of a deposit composed of inadequate material (Turmalina - DMIT) in relation to the safety factor and the influence of the different types of coverage (Tecnosol - alternative closure, top soil conventional closure systems) on the physical stability of the same deposit, through laboratory tests to determine the physical and resistance parameters. The DMIT has 5.7 ha of area, consisting mainly of areas of inadequate material, massive landfill, existing dike and rocky basement, each zone has different parameters according to its purpose in the design The area of inadequate material covers the largest area of the deposit, consisting of: gravel, silt, clays, gravel, or graded, and presents, blocks, angled, to, angular, these, materials, originating, of operations, mining, which, as well, does not have economic, as, of the constructions, and earthworks of the mining structures. The closure of this deposit was arranged by natural laying three layers of Technosols with different properties (andic, reductor and eutrophic) forming a total of 45 cm in thickness. Using the software Slide 6.0 (rocscience), which calculates safety factors of entered design parameters, defining the modeling through the software through different conditions and the sea in total, effective stresses or seismicity, was compared with the speed of the DMIT with Tecnosoles coverage and with the application of a conventional top soil closure (with the same thickness layer). For all the studies studied, the coverage with Tecnosols showed an improvement in the safety factor (F.S) in relation to the conventional coverage (with top soil).
