The following investigation project main objective was to reduce operating costs in the coachwork for buses on chassis MB LO 915 manufacturing line of the Factoria Bruce S.A. company, by proposing an integrated production and logistics system. For that, first, we described the current state of the production and logistics areas, which allowed us to pose the development of an improvement proposal for the reduction of operating costs through the application of logistics tools such as the ABC method for materials classification, the reorder point and the economic order quantity, which complement the proposed material requirements planning (MRP). The achieved results are: · The number of buses delivered within the time limit were increased in a 54.38%. · The average cost of reprocessing per unit was reduced in a 74.9% · The amount of purchases to secondary suppliers were reduced in a 73.76% and the average cost of this purchases was reduced in a 76.17%. The impact on the operating costs at the end of the fifth year of the implementation of the improvement proposal is an S/. 41,009 reduction.
