Experimental research was conducted with the justification of preventing gastrointestinal diseases in the population, with the objective of implementing eucalyptus sapwood filters to improve water quality in the district of Hualgayoc, Cajamarca 2022. The design of the present research is experimental because it intends to manipulate the independent variable which will have an effect on the dependent variable. Therefore, a 1“ diameter eucalyptus xylem filter was designed and elaborated, these were connected to the household connection of 5 different houses held by a clamp connected to a tank. Seven samples were taken, five with the use of the filter and two without, and the samples were analyzed at the regional water laboratory in Cajamarca. The results obtained indicate that the drinking water in the Hualgayoc district meets the recommended quality parameters. Total Coliform Bacteria <1.8 NMP/100mL, Escherichia Coli <1.1 NMP/100mL, Thermotolerant Coliform Bacteria <1.1 NMP/100mL and Heterotrophic Bacteria 210 UFC/mL. Regarding the effect of the eucalyptus sapwood filter on microbiological properties, an average of 1.6 NMP/100mL Total Coliform Bacteria, 1.1 NMP/100mL Escherichia Coli, 1.1 NMP/100mL Thermotolerant Coliform Bacteria and 159.8 CFU/mL Heterotrophic Bacteria was obtained. In conclusion, the drinking water drunk in the district of Hualgayoc meets the necessary parameters, however with the design and implementation of the eucalyptus sapwood filter generates an improvement in the microbiological properties of the drinking water supply system of the district of Hualgayoc, Cajamarca 2022.
