Iron deficiency anemia is one of the most controversial public health problems, it is estimated that half of the cases worldwide are due to iron deficiency affecting infants in developed countries. Objective: To determine the effects of food education in caregivers of children under 5 years of age with iron deficiency anemia in the district of Independencia - sector 4, Peru 2021. Methodology: quantitative, observational, cross-sectional approach and descriptive correlational design. With a population of 60 children and a sample made up of 30 children under five years of age. The survey was used as a technique and a questionnaire as an instrument. For the contrast, the use of Kendall's tau-c-statistical test was considered. Results: indicate that 77% caregivers obtained a high level of knowledge and 23% obtained a medium level; On the other hand, the increase in hemoglobin levels of the initial and control dosing was verified, being between 11 and 13 mg/dl. Conclusions: There are effects of food education on caregivers of children with iron deficiency anemia; therefore, it is recommended to have a larger population and acceptability of parents to participate in prevention strategies against iron deficiency anemia
