The objective of this work is to analyze the development and effectiveness of the Principle of Opportunity in cases of Family Violence in the Fiscal District of North Lima - 2018, from the substantial and procedural point of view, in accordance with the applicable laws; also, determine its benefits or consequences of having it in cases of family violence. For this purpose, a systematic development of different institutions was carried out, such as: International Treaties, the Constitution, the Organic Law of the Public Ministry, the Criminal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code and Jurisprudences, after that, the criteria used by prosecutors to declare the relevance of the Principle of Opportunity and how they establish it, in this way it was possible to determine the influence that the application of this means of procedural simplification has. As a result, the criminal mediation had a positive influence, for various reasons such as: allowing the aggrieved party to intervene and decide on the reparation of the damage that was caused, allows the reintegration, reeducation and regeneration of the accused before society according to the end of the penalty and restorative justice; likewise, it is efficient with the procedural discharge that exists in matters of family violence - Principle of Procedural Economy.
