ABSTRACT This research has studied the consumption level of the program “Esto es Guerra” and the cultural identity of students of 7th grade of a private school in Cajamarca. Cause of ethical issues, the name of this institute has been reserved, and has been named as “Institución Educativa Particular Lumbreras” (I.E.P Lumbreras) which has ten students in this grade. I.E.P “Lumbreras”, is a middle class institute, it’s located in Baños del Inca district, part of Cajamarca province. It has a nursery school, primary school, but only 7th grade in high school. Likewise, this TV show “Esto es Guerra”, was chosen because of it’s high rating in national TV channels and because it’s broadcasted in the late afternoon schedule, when the audience are mostly teenagers. The objective of this research is to determine the consumption level of “Esto es Guerra” and identify the cultural identity of these students, in order to understand there behavior patterns and describe the characteristics of the cultural identity. The methodology consisted in a focus group as the principal base and the observation of four programs of the show during 2016, using an observation guide sheet. The first survey was used to check if the students watched the program; the second, to reforce the focus group. This thesis consists of five chapters. In the first chapter, the relevance of the problem is raised, as also its objectives and justification. In the second chapter, the theoretical framework is developed: first the background of previous investigations, after the theoretical bases. In the third chapter the methodology is settled, here is where the operationalization of the variables are set, the research designed, the unit of study and data collection techniques and research methods are developed. The fourth chapter presents the quantitative results of the research. The fifth chapter starts with the discussion of the quantitative results, based on the problem and their proximity to the theoretical bases. Finally, the conclusions of the investigation are drawn, followed by the recommendations to the settled problem.
