This research thesis has a purpose to analyze the determinants that have influence in the profitability of the municipal savings banks of Peru within the period 2013 to 2019, through a multiple regression econometric model for a data panel of 12 municipal banks of savings and credit of Peru. Most of the publication indicates that the profitability of institutions can be expressed as a function of internal and external determinants, but in this study we will focus only on the internal determinants, that is, those that result from management decisions and policies the institutions. Several research studies have shown that internal variables are more influential than external variables of a macroeconomic nature. Among the most relevant results, it is verified that the main determinants of the profitability for the Municipal Banks within the period mentioned studied are the capitalization, portfolio quality, administrative expenses and liquidity, due to the correct relation of its parameters against the return on its assets and equity, there is another variable such as leverage, which was not significant. Capitalization was the most significant variable for both Roe and Roa. The study also found that operational efficiency and the size of the institution could not form part of a linear regression econometric model since the variables are not They exhibit linear behavior. Knowledge of the behavior of these variables or determinants will be useful to microfinance institutions themselves and other parties stakeholders such as regulatory entities or microfinance networks for decision-making of the risk and financial policies of companies. Finally, according to the econometric results of this research, presents the discussions, conclusions, and recommendations on the performance of these variables or determinants and some institutional policy recommendations.
