In the present cross-sectional research of correlational design, the objective was to determine the relationship between Emotional Dependence and Self-Esteem in Young University Psychology students from a University of Lima in 2021. A sample population of 337 male and female students aged 16 to 27 years was taken from a psychology program at a university in the city of Lima. The following instruments were used: the 23-item Emotional Dependency Questionnaire applied in a population of Cajamarca by the author Brita and Gonzales and the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Questionnaire of 25 items of the adult version. In the data analysis, Spearman's moment product correlation coefficient was used, as it is a correlation of non-parametric variables. The results determined that there is a significant, inverse correlation (Rho=-.404) and a p-value less than .05 between the variables emotional dependence and self-esteem. Likewise, a significant relationship (p-value <.01) and inverse relationship was found between the dimensions of separation anxiety, affective expression, modification of plans, and fear of loneliness with self-esteem in young psychology students from a university in Lima in 2021.
