ABSTRACT In certain areas of Peru problems drinking water occur in the absence springs, rivers or other nearby water sources, which can be built to supply water suitable for human consumption, is why in this thesis aims to strengthen the idea of capturing and harnessing rainwater for drinking water supply, showing that the rainfall occurring in the study site, in this case rainfall occurring in the village of La Florida district Huasmín are sufficient to provide good water quality and quantity, so that beneficiaries are supplied with water to allow them the good development of its core activities, such as food, hygiene, education, work and other activities necessary for their subsistence. Importantly, the implementation of family systems use rainwater to supply drinking water reduces the risk of contracting waterborne diseases and provides water quality by helping to preserve the health and getting people have normal development of their activities, and this type of system proposed water harvesting rain suited to rural areas, where homes are scattered and have no access to drinking water as happens with the inhabitants of the village in mention is why this thesis aims to determine the level of annual drinking water supply with the implementation of a System of rainwater Harvesting, concluding that the precipitation observed in the study site are the necessary to collect sufficient amount of water designing hydraulic system and potable water, whose elements are catchments (Roofing), Power Lines (gutters and pipes), storage tanks among other components necessary to preserve the quality collected water.
