Gender-based violence is considered as any act that results in, or may result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm to women, due to its strong impact on society, and given that it is becoming more frequent. The WHO (2017), in its “World Report on Violence and Health“, indicates that worldwide violence is a problem that afflicts more than 71% of the population, with Peru being one of the top three with higher rates of violence. Different investigations indicate the relationship between gender violence and emotional dependence. Therefore, the present study sought to determine the relationship between gender violence and emotional dependence in couple relationships in young university students in Metropolitan Lima. The research is of a non-experimental type, of a correlational and quantitative level. The collection of information was given through the application of the Dating Violence Questionnaire (CUVINO), this instrument was created by Rodríguez - Franco et al., (2010) in our country it was validated by God (2020) and the Emotional Dependency Inventory (IDE) that was created and validated by Aiquipa (2012), the results were reviewed by the statistical program SPSS. The results show that there is a direct relationship between gender violence and emotional dependence, which led to the conclusion that the higher the level of gender
