Considering the six major losses in production processes, the main objective of this thesis is to minimize plant downtime for maintenance by implementing the TPM methodology in a lime plant. The type of research is applied, correlative, quantitative and pre-experimental, as a technique the documentary review was used. Initially, a situational diagnosis of the plant downtime was performed due to maintenance of the critical equipment, as well as the Global Efficiency diagnosis was obtained, obtaining an initial percentage of 86.54%. Subsequently, the design and implementation of the eight TPM pillars was carried out, considering the main pillar that of focused improvement, which for our research is based on the change of design of the oscillating standard bearings by bipartite, thus achieving a reduction in down MTTR plant from 508 h to 84 h and an increase in availability from 94% to 98%, yield from 93% to 94%, quality from 99% to 99.8% and finally the OEE increased by 4.56% to a percentage of 92%, meeting the standard stipulated by the company. Finally, based on the estimated savings of 127,200 semiannual dollars, the economic analysis, benefit-cost of the implementation of the TPM, was carried out, obtaining a value of 22.27 indicating that the benefits outweigh the costs, therefore, the project must be considered.
