This research had the purpose of finding the relationship between the level of stress and coping strategies in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The sample consisted of 153 parents of children with ASD from a special educational institution of Puente Piedra, 2017. The methodology used is of quantitative approach, non-experimental design, cross-sectional and correlational scope. The population was made up of 153 mother and father belonging to said special basic educational institution. The type of sampling was non-probabilistic, the technique used was through a survey of said questionnaires: Parental Stress Questionnaire (PSI-SF) and Questionnaire of modes of coping with stress (COPE); were used to measure the level of parental stress and identify the styles and strategies that fathers and mothers face when raising their children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The results found indicate that the emotion-focused coping style is the most prevalent with 40.9%, followed by the avoidant style with 29.9% and finally the problem-focused style with 29.2%; Likewise, there is an inverse and significant relationship between parental stress and the coping style focused on the problem, that is, the greater the presence of the coping style focused on the problem, the less parental stress is presented.
