ABSTRACT This study is oriented comparative analysis of seismic behavior and the cost of running a hospital building, considering and ignoring for foundation using simian base isolators, for it has been selected block No. 05 of the Regional Hospital of Pasco, as a study model. The hospital buildings are considered essential according to E.030 regulations National Building Regulations, which is why after a seismic event cannot be damaged, since its main function is to provide immediate potential victims of earthquake relief event. one modeling the building, which was analyzed using the ETABS program 15 educational version was performed first, the structure was analyzed with a conventional foundation, then additional modifications were made to the model, in order to achieve generate a level of isolation ( isolation interface) where will be located the insulators, for it was necessary to add a diaphragm, which will act as the floor of the first level of the structure, which is made up of its own slab, beams and elements called capitals latter serve home for columns. The design of the insulators was carried out under the ASCE 7-10 standard design factors obtained were entered into the analysis model processed with 15 educational program ETABS version. For the seismic response of the building, both models were subjected to the simian spectrum generated according to standard E.030 of the National Building Regulations, then the analysis was measured and compared, displacement in the center of mass drifts, the shear forces static and dynamic. the follow variations were recorded in an isolated structure: displacement decreases to 45%, the maximum drift decreases by 50%, the shear force at the base decreases to 31% and the cost of the structure increases by 18%, compared to a structure uninsulated.
