ABSTRACT The present research work, evaluates the current energy situation of the company Nestlé Peru S.A. Cajamarca plant with the purpose of proposing an alternative energy source (Natural Gas) for its energy matrix, which will contribute to the reduction of the costs of thermal energy generation and reduction of CO2 emissions (environmental footprint) than the current source of energy generated. To this end, we have compiled information on the process of thermal energy generation, mainly the industrial oil n° 6, which is the energy source in the process of thermal energy generation and CO2 generation, information that was analyzed and reflected in graphs and measurements. Once the variables analyzed and evaluated to understand the current situation of the energy matrix of Peru Nestle S.A. - Plant Cajamarca, comparative analysis of energy alternative that is the source of energy from the Natural Gas against the current that is industrial oil n°6 for presents and propose opportunities that can contribute to lower generation costs thermal energy. To perform the economic analysis between the two energy sources were presented three scenarios; optimal, pessimistic and optimistic, where the variable price of industrial oil n° 6 was operated, these three scenarios the latter is what gives financial benefit since it has a NPV of S/. 54879.16 and an IRR of 10.91% which shows that there is a great opportunity to reduce the cost of thermal power generation when the oil price is at an annual average of S/. 6.50 per gallon. Aligned to this environmental indicator it is reduced by 23% which indicates that the emission of CO2 (greenhouse gas) using the energy source from natural gas will also decrease. It is clear that the methodology used in this work is specific to the plant Nestle Peru S.A. located in Cajamarca, but this does not imply that the same detailed analysis in this paper can be used as a reference to lower costs associated with the generation of thermal energy in other industries.
