Symbolic violence is a phenomenon that occurs through thought, where those involved ignore being part of it, normalizing ideas and actions. Symbolic violence spreads through the mass media, but the digital age has created new channels and means of expression, including the meme. This study aims to analyze symbolic violence in memes as reinforcement of stereotypes in university students of the fan page “The UNT is the UNT“ during the year 2019. Through qualitative research, the content analysis of 40 memes and a digital ethnography. Concluding that in addition to establishing stereotypes, university students seek to demonstrate the superiority of their university and thereby reaffirm theirs.
