At present, it is a priority and essential for organizations to implement changes in work systems to achieve compliance with strategic and / or business objectives. In the oil refineries of Peru, companies where it is essential to keep equipment and production systems fully operational, available and safe, it is key to maintain an excellent maintenance management that meets these requirements. For this reason, this thesis aims to propose a World Class Maintenance Management in oil refineries in Peru by 2020, seeking to maintain the most operational, available and safe production systems and equipment, in order to meet strategic objectives, improve maintenance effectiveness, productivity and profitability. The work methodology for this mixed, causal explanatory level, hypothetical deductive and non-experimental with a cross-sectional design research work, is based on theories and research studies, documentary review, direct observation and survey of a sample of 107 collaborators from a population of 147 workers of oil refineries in Peru. From this research, it is concluded that, with the proposal of a World Class Maintenance Management, based on the implementation of preventive and autonomous maintenance in an oil refinery, it would be possible to increase productivity.
