The present investigation offers the possibility of predicting the behavior of the soil in Las Brisas Human Settlement, before the phenomenon called liquefaction caused by an earthquake. This allows knowing the failure mechanism of that soil and also being able to classify it according to the load capacity for each level of a typical building, thus preventing structural damage, accidents and in the worst case, human losses. For this, the main concepts of geotechnical engineering related to earthquakes and liquefaction were used. This research work was carried out in the city of Trujillo, La Libertad region in 2018, with the main objective of evaluating the liquefaction by means of loads by levels of typical buildings in the soil of the Las Brisas settlement of the Salaverry District. soil since it is very variable from its fluvial formation to the possible existence of an underground aquifer that surrounds it; In addition, there are about 318 families living in this area without knowledge of the vulnerability in which they live, to whom they wish to help formalize the urbanization process before the local authorities. To determine this objective, what was done in the first place was to recognize the field within the study area, locating the points for the 9 test pits, determine its bearing capacity according to the Terzaghi method using Light Dynamic Penetrometer (DPL) equipment, and using the simplified method of Seed and Idriss evaluate liquefaction. Among the main results of the investigation, it was obtained that the soil is sandy type poorly graduated (SP); This soil has an admissible bearing capacity of 1.36 kg / cm² at 2.58 kg / cm² in a continuous foundation and from 1.88 kg / cm² to 3.68 kg / cm² in a square foundation, in the area surrounding the C-05 pit, suffer immediate liquefaction with 4530.36 kg of weight; in the area of the pits C-01, C-03, C-04, C-06, C-08 and C-09 suffers marginal liquefaction reaches the 4530.36 kg of weight but not the 8302.98 kg of the second level, by what is not advisable to build without land improvements; finally in the area of the pits C- 02, and C-07 suffers marginal liquefaction with 3 levels of typical building ie supports the 8302.98 kg but not the 11976.40 kg (can be built 2 levels of building without land improvements), all the results mentioned to the research characteristics.
