The mining sector faces multiple challenges nowadays, both operational and social. One of them is the generation of vibrations as a consequence of blasting, which can cause discomfort and on a large scale, they can damage nearby buildings, such as houses near the project; that’s why this thesis aims to find critical distances where an explosive can be used without exceeding the pre-established permissible vibration limits in Yanarrumi Mine, according to Peruvian and American standards. This thesis focuses mainly on variables that directly depend on peak particle velocity, where the coupling of drills is very important (also known as ‘operating load’). This thesis considers the load of 3 coupled drills, the type of explosive, other variables that cannot be controlled, geological conditions and values of ground attenuation and rock parameters; all these conditions were analyzed through a model of far field prediction: Divine and Duball model, formulated in 1963. After performing the data analysis with both explosives: Quantex73 and Emulsion100%, their VPP values were obtained and compared with the Divine predictive model, obtaining some models that when adjusted to 90% confidence indicate that When using the explosive mixture Quantex73 the critical distance obtained is of 582 meters having as limit the Peruvian norm that indicates that for a distance of 301 to 5000 feet (91.74 – 1524) meters, should not exceed a PPV of 25.4 mm/s and when analyzing the same explosive Based on an international standard, and for the purposes of this thesis was worked with the American Standard USBM RI 8507, which establishes a PPV limit value of 12.5 mm/s for a low frequency less than 40 hertz, in which case the critical distance obtained was 752 meters , and also on the basis of the German standard DIN 4150, in relation to its levels of vibration type III for delicate structures, it establishes a limit of 3mm/s, being the critical distance for this standard, 1252 meters. Using the second explosive emulsion 100% was obtained with the Peruvian standard a critical distance of 188 meters, with the American Regulation a value of 340 meters and in the German regulations 1122 meters. These data were obtained taking into account that, for the quantex73, it was considered a load of 494kg and for the explosive emulsion 100%, a load of 315 kg.
