The objective of this research is to design a preventive maintenance management system based on the Deming cycle to improve the availability of equipment in the San Rafael project of the company COMIN SAC, the methodology used was direct observation and documentary analysis through systematic review of equipment stop records In the first stage, the initial situation of the “San Rafael” project was diagnosed in terms of equipment availability, obtaining values below 90% availability, an indicator that generates S / 45,000 as a monthly penalty for the company. According to the evaluation of the initial situation, deficiencies were detected with an Ishikawa diagram and the review of equipment maintenance history, which allowed designing a maintenance management system based on the Deming cycle, presenting actions to plan, do, Verify and act that avoided penalties to the company after implementation. In the third stage, the availability of equipment was projected, taking as a positive scenario a possible implementation of the proposed improvements based on the Deming cycle, obtaining an availability of 94% in the COM-12 equipment, 95% in the COM-06 equipment, 94% in the COM-05 team, 96% in the COM-04 team, 95% in the COM-03 team and 92% in the COM-02 team. Finally, in the evaluation of the cost benefit of the implementation of the Deming cycle, positive values were obtained in the Net Annual Value of S / 1,717,240.00, and an Internal Rate of Return of 125%.
