ABSTRACT This research has aimed to determine the relationship between family cohesion and self-esteem in adolescent males from 11 to 16 years of a public school in Cajamarca in the year 2018, for this was used the scale of assessment of cohesion and Familiar adaptability (FACES III) of David H. Olson Portner, Yoav Laver and the self-esteem test for schoolchildren of Cesar Ruiz Alva A correlational investigation was carried out with a non-experimental transactional design, with a sample of 207 students of 1 ° and 2nd grade of secondary of the I.E.T. “Rafael Loayza Guevara“. The results revealed that there is a low relationship between family cohesion and self-esteem, with a correlation of Rho of Sperman of .005; likewise it is evident that there is a very good correlation between family cohesion and self-esteem in their area of socialization .905. It was also observed that there is a very low correlation between family cohesion and five of the six areas of self-esteem, family .032, personal identity .016, emotions .033, autonomy .160 and motivation .030. What is found is explained because at a time when familycohesion is related to self-esteem, there are other elements belonging to the family involved, however this does influence the adolescent's self-esteem.
