ABSTRACT This report thesis is focused on an analysis of inventory management in Lanca Inversiones S.A. of Trujillo city. To achieve our goal, we made a descriptive research with a cross sectional nonexperimental design, in which there were used as tools two interview checklists, where one of then was focused on 15 employees of the company to determine their perspective and knowledge about Inventory Management and, the other checklist was intended for observation. The purpose of these two instruments was to contrast the information and give to the company more actual data about Inventory Management. The checklists are made up of 25 questions, which were grouped into 04 dimensions: composition of stocks, supply system, inventory control and management models. For a commercial company, where its main activities focus on the buying and selling of products, it is very important to keep optimum Inventory Management, that allows to reduce errors and costs to be more competitive and stay in the market. Therefore in this study we describe the theory of Inventory Management and we analyze the stock management of the company, in order to contrast the information and, finally the results will be useful to the company to perform better. The results allowed us to realize that the company Inversiones Lanca SA performs an empirical Inventory Management. This occurs in spite of they apply some methods such as continues review and FIFO method for the valuation of their stock, but that is not enough, because we can still see some deficiencies due to lack of monitoring, standardization of processes, and training their employees about an optimal Inventory Management.
