The following study has focused on a comparative analysis of the structural response of a building with seismic isolators and conventional building. We have chosen a structure important characterization in this case is the pavilion “A“ of Private University of the North, the modeling was performed in program ETABS version 2013 educational, and has been considered in designing the National Building Regulations and standard Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures. Was made 3 combinations of insulators, the first combination has been considered isolators working full section, the second option has been considered a decrease in internal diameter section, and the third alternative, a combination of high damping including some addition of lead core. We evaluated the improved performance of these combinations compared to the spectra of the following standards or seismic signals Lima used the years 1974 and 1966, Chimbote 1970, Moyabamba 2005, Ocoña 2001 and the Pisco and Ica 2007, properly scaled, verifying that the structure has been favored with the use of isolators offering better structural behavior, obtaining an average decrease of 50% in the drifts mezzanine, 71% on average in the forces at the base, better distribution of displacement level diaphragms, and an increase in the period of the structure is 0.29 seconds to 2 seconds offering occupants greater safety and continuity in its services. In the annexes you can see the maps of spectral ordinates for different periods, plant layout drawings of insulators with their respective specifications, design diagrams and hysteresis, and finally the response spectra for the accelerograms used for damping of 5%, 10% and 27%.
