This thesis describes, analyzes and studies each of the stages and / or steps that must be carried out to make the design of an open pit mine, the determination of the final limit of an open pit leads to the application of various tools in the stages of this process and the ultimate goal like any business is to obtain maximum profitability. For the development of the study, geological investigations were carried out - geomechanics in the field, geomechanical mapping, in addition representative rock samples were extracted which were sent and tested in the rock mechanics laboratory of the National University of Engineering - Rock Mechanics Laboratory of the Faculty of Geological Mining and Metallurgical Engineering (located in the city of Lima). Several criteria or classification systems were used to characterize the predominant rock mass in the project area, the main one being: Rock Mass Rating (RMR) by Z. T. Bieniawski in its 1989 version. Geological, hydrological and geomechanical information are of great importance in all stages of the projects; profiling, pre-feasibility study, feasibility study, engineering, project development and in the mineral extraction itself, said information was analyzed and various models were created where geological, hydrological, geotechnical information, etc. can be obtained. The geometric design of the Mine is a function of several factors such as the size of the deposit, geology, mining rate, size of the equipment, etc. The contours proposed in the field serve as a guide to be able to carry out the mining phases and the final pit of the project and the accesses. To carry out the block mining sequence, we use the mining phases as a guide, so the first phases that in general may have little clearing are extracted at the beginning, while the following phases can begin clearing, in order to always have mineral available throughout the useful life of the project, the objective of the mining sequence is to constantly supply the economic material (clay) to the different purchasing companies. The Susy III clay quarry is a project in which around 702,000 MT are cubed, and its approved environmental permit has a maximum production of 130 MT / day making a useful life of the project of 15 years.
