Abstract: El presente estudio tiene como objetivo principal determinar si existe relación significativa entre funcionamiento familiar y autoestima en estudiantes de secundaria de un colegio privado de Carabayllo, así como identificar los niveles de funcionamiento familiar y de autoestima en una muestra de 123 estudiantes varones y mujeres, por medio de diseño no experimental, corte transversal y alcance correlacional, utilizando la Escala APGAR Familiar y el Inventario de Autoestima de Copersmith, encontrando que no existe relación significativa entre funcionamiento familiar y autoestima; además, el nivel de funcionamiento familiar predominante fue de disfunción familiar leve el cual corresponde al 46%, mientras que, el nivel de autoestima de la muestra estudiada corresponde a un nivel de autoestima promedio bajo representado por el 58%.
The main objective of the present study is to determine if there is a significant relationship between family functioning and self-esteem in secondary school students from a private school in Carabayllo, as well as to identify the levels of family functioning and self-esteem in a sample of 123 male and female students, by Non-experimental design means, cross-section and correlational scope, using the Family APGAR Scale and the Copersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, finding that there is no significant relationship between family functioning and self-esteem; Furthermore, the predominant level of family functioning was mild family dysfunction, which corresponds to 46%, while the level of self-esteem of the studied sample corresponds to a low average level of self-esteem represented by 58%.
