ABSTRACT This research has determined the influence on uniaxial compressive strength of concrete fc’ = 175 kg/cm 2 using aggregates quarry hill “El Gavilán“ with the addition of different percentages of polypropylene fibers. The methodology used to prepare a standard consist in concrete mix f'c = 175 kg/cm 2 and other mixtures of the same dosage with the addition of different percentages of polypropylene fibers (0.10%, 0.17% and 0.25%) with respect to the total amount of a cubic meter of concrete considering the density of the polypropylene fibers, and then were assayed at the uniaxial compression 7,14 and 21 days. For this investigation was assessed at 21 days where increased compressive strength of 6.08% by adding 0.10% of polypropylene fibers with respect to the standard mixture, to add was obtained 0.17% of polypropylene fibers increases is obtained the compressive strength of 12.82% compared to design specific pattern and by adding 0.25% of polypropylene fibers increased compressive strength of 16.21% compared to design specific pattern is obtained. According to tests conducted results indicate that the concrete added with polypropylene fibers have a greater resistance to conventional concrete tested at 21 days was obtained; however the addition of polypropylene fibers, according to its dosage can reduce uniaxial compressive strength on days 7 and 14.
