The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between the presence of aquatic macroinvertebrates as bioindicators and the physicochemical parameters of the San Lucas river, Cajamarca province, during September 2018 and February 2019, at 6 sampling points, resulting in: 4 classes, 1 subclass, 6 orders and 13 families, also, wealth, abundance, frecuency and diversity were determined. In addition, the ABI and BMWP/Col. indexes were applied, on the one hand, the ABI index presented a quality with a clear “lousy“ predominance and the BMWP/Col. index have a predominance of “very critical” quality, in most of the points monitored (P04, P05, P06) and in both months. On the other hand, the physicochemical and microbiological parameters that were analyzed were temperature, TDS, TSS, pH, chloride, nitrite, nitrate, sulfate, OD, COD, BOD5 and Total Coliforms. These parameters were compared with the Environmental Quality Standards for water, category 3, animal drink, according to law (DS N ° 004-2017-MINAM), thus, the parameters that did not comply with the regulations were: COD, BOD5, OD and total coliforms. Finally, the correlation is positive, only for OD, pH and nitrates.
